Competitiveness clusters are part of a national initiative designed to bring together the industrial, research, and educational players in a given region in order to favour innovation and the creation of new jobs. Montpellier Agglomération is involved with five of these specialised clusters.
The Eurobiomed competitiveness cluster (www.eurobiomed.org) was founded on January 1, 2009, resulting from the merger of the Orpheme competitiveness cluster and two clusters dedicated to life sciences, Holobiosud (Languedoc-Roussillon) and Bioméditerranée (PACA region). The goal was to create a single structure able serve the development needs of life sciences, companies, and research and development projects.
The Q@LI-MEDiterranée competitiveness cluster (www.qalimediterranee.fr) unites Languedoc-Roussillon effort to focus on sustainable development in agriculture and agri-business production.
This competitiveness cluster focuses on renewable energy sources in building and industrial sectors.
Protecting sensitive areas and highly concentrated urban and economic zones
This competitiveness cluster focuses on technologies and industrial processes in the nuclear sector.
