October 2007: Montpellier Agglomeration signs cooperation agreements with the LA FUCINA business and innovation center (BIC) in Milan. At the heart of the Po Plain and the industrial basin of northern Italy, 650 km from Montpellier (one-hour flight), the capital of the Lombardy region provides an ideal location for Montpellier-based companies wanting to invest in the Italian market and the markets of Eastern Europe

OPEN YOUR SUBSIDIARY IN ITALY OR IN MONTPELLIER
Your company wants to establish a presence in Italy. You are an Italian company, being aided by the La Fucina BIC or the Parco Tecnologico Padano.
Thanks to these agreements, and following approval of your application, you will be able to develop your business at minimized costs and risks, thanks to :
  • A personal mentor who can provide assistance, free of charge, during several stages: feasibility, drafting the business plan, access to European programs, the search for venture capital, establishing your company's administrative structure, available public subsidies and incentive programs, and in understanding regulations governing foreign investments in Italy/France.
  • Negotiated housing conditions: initially free supply of a work space to allow you to assess your project's feasibility, on-site, under the best possible conditions. You will then be offered a selection of locales, at the going rate.
  • Liaison with Milan/Montpellier-based businesses, R&D centers, specialized consultants (lawyers, etc.), economic and financial institutions, organizations specialized in promotion and communications.

LA FUCINA BIC
Since its creation in 1996 by the Lombarde Milano Metropoli Regional Development Agency, La Fucina business and innovation centre has been supporting the creation and development of technologically-oriented businesses.
With 200 companies a year, some 700 monitored businesses and 40 firms housed in its facilities, La Fucina BIC is among the globe's finest incubators. It enjoys support from the European Union, providing entrepreneurs with help in creating and developing their business, in financing their projects (more than 40 million euros raised over the past five years) and in their international expansion.Sectors of activity represented: information and communication technologies (multimedia, design...), biotechnologies.

PARCO TECNOLOGICO PADANO
This technology park is a driving force in the agro-biotechnology industry which enjoys broad support from the Lombardy Region, the University of Milan and from other local institutions. With its 2,000 m2 situated at the heart of the technology park, the incubator of Padano provides seedlings from universities and innovative entrepreneurs with a technology transfer center whose chief area of focus is agro-biotech, and specifically genomics, biodiversity (crops, breeding), and the traceability of derived products. The Technology Park of Padano already collaborates with Montpellier through the ABC Network of agro-biotech clusters, of which the Agropolis International is also a partner.
